my trunk floor is solid but owner before dropped something right in the middle and pushed the trunk floor down , i took the tank out and pushed up on the floor but it just pops back down like and old oil can, is there any way to shrink the metal so it will stay up

Well, you'll probably need to remove the gas tank. You could try a shrinking hammer or some method involving heat. The shrinking hammer would need to be backed up with a dolly, and heat, well, that should be self explanatory. Either way, the gas tank should come out.

Its when you put i away a 20 lb sledge, but the next time you go to get it, its a little 14 oz ball peen. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif J/K... actually, its a special body hammer that allows you to work the metal and actually "shrink" it back into shape.

If you look around and ask at say a paint and body supply store you will find a complete kit of body hammers. The hammers do a variety of shrinking and body straightning jobs. These tool kits/hammer kits are not very expensive and go a long way to helping do body repairs.
