You could try a shrinking hammer or some method involving heat. The shrinking hammer would need to be backed up with a dolly, and heat, well, that should be self explanatory. Either way, the gas tank should come out. The hammers do a variety of shrinking and body straightning jobs. These tool kits/hammer kits are not very expensive and go a long way to helping do body repairs.
