does any know or recommend a good tranny shop in Southern California, LA or Orange County area where I can have a 200-4R rebuilt or buy one from them??

I say Tim Deal of Tim Deal Transmissions in Huntington Beach is a great guy to do business with. He R&R'd 2 transmissions for me, my original TH350 and now my 700R4, gas mileage was the only reason for the switch. Very straightforward guy and easy to deal with. Do a search and his name will pop up a lot...I also think he is quite a bit cheaper than Art Carr.

No, but I went to JS Gear on Gothard between Ellis and Talbert. Half a day to set me up with 3.55 and a posi. Tim also recommended them after I had already decided on them and I am happy with their work.

If you are looking for someone to do the 200r4 swap, Tim did the swap for my 700r4 and im sure its really no different.

For everything (tranny, swap, rear end overhaul etc...) was ~$3,000. I just drove it in and drove it home.

I dropped my car off and he did the complete swap...shorten driveshaft, install my new shifter, etc....

He had to go get a tranny core and rebuilt that to withstand approx. 450hp (its a 700r4).
