: Electric Fuel Pump Recomendations?

This winter I am putting a 95 LT1 into my 68 convertible

I am trying to figure out what do do for an electric fuel pump

I do not want the expense of a new tank modifyed for an in tank pump

What external pumps would do the job and have a good life to them?

What about just using the tank from a 95 Caprice, would it pretty much just bolt up with some minor modifications of the mounting straps?

Which would be my better option. I want it to work like it should, but not spend every dime I have getting it that way

Thanks for any help
Josh

The Airtex/Master E8248 is a universal external in-line pump for fuel injection. It flows 65 gph wide open, 45 gph @ 36 psi (good for 540 hp), and has a 115 psi shutoff. It is $112 from rockauto.com

My understanding of the Caprice tank is that you will need to modify/cut your trunk floor to make it fit right. I haven't actually tried it, so don't take my word. I did some reading around about it and decided it wasn't going to be a simple bolt-in replacement for the stock tank. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong..

I've used an MSD-2225 pump and am now using a Holley 12-920.

If you're going to EFI, do your homework and dont cut corners with the fuel system. It has proved to be the most frustrating part of my EFI conversion. Consider using a surge tank setup.

Mallory stuff is great...I'm going with a comp140 in my car, but it's carb'd....Luckily, Mallory pumps are available for EFI as well...I'd go for the 110FI, or if the motors real hot, the 140FI. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MAA%2D5110FI&N=700+400249+4294925239+4294836965+115&autoview=sku

Holley 12-920 which is a Walbro pump. OE quality and good price and good to about 700 HP N/A at 43 PSI. What I have in with my BB.

Thanks for all the responses, It gives me something to think about

I am going to measure more and see how close the Caprice tank is and if I want to go that route.

Thanks Again

Aeromotive 1000 w/ Controller.

same pump I am running and so far I love it. I am not running the controller though, so far it has been fine (500 mile one way road trips)

very flexible pump as far as applications are concerned, can be used for EFI or as my case carbed.

I used the PA-2 in-tank kit from Tanks Inc. for the stock tank in my '69 with a 95 LT1.

http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=84/category_id=61/home_id=61/mode=prod/prd84.htm

It's kind of noisy, but it's worked great for me so-far.
