I was wandering if anyone has "smoothed" their firewall. I am eliminating the a/c, blower motor, wiper motor etc... I like the idea of opening the hood and just seeing an engine. I've seen pics of camaro's but no chevelles. If anyone has any pics, I'd like to see them. Also will body filler stay in the unused bolt holes or should I just well 'em. thanks

Here's a company that makes a kit:

They have a good picture of the finished firewall on there. If you have any exposed holes you don't want, I would weld them shut, grind them smooth, and then use filler.

Check out the pics in my link. I smoothed it and love the look. Everywhere I go people stop and notice it.

Welded about a 1/2" lip around the opening to make a "Smokey Yunick" type air cleaner if desired.

thanks for the info and pics. I guess this will be easier than expected. Any "minor details" I should know before doing this?

IMHO, four details, the lack of a heater, defroster, A/C, and wipers. You plan on driving this car much or posing with it with the hood up? Your in PA, doesn't it snow up there? Don't get me wrong, I do like the look of a smooth firewall, just not on my car.

Yes it does snow in PA, but I havent seen any chevelles driving around in the snow. Most of the driving time on the car will end up bieng at the strip. No it's not a trailer queen either, the car does like a road thrashing when my points are down. (not all my nieghbors enjoy a good smoke show) Anyway, I was just trying to get some input on the matter since it's my first major body mod. Thanks for the input.

If it is not an original car then go for it. If you want heat and AC then use aftermarket like Vintage air or another and run your lines through the far right side of the car and it wont even mess up your firewall look.
Best of luck!
