Stupid question but how do I clean oxidation off of a non polished aluminum intake manifold, without removing it.

For surface oxidation: First clean the manifold with Varsol, Gasoline or Laquer thinner to rid oil and grease ... etc, then wash with soap and water. Use Hi Presure Air to blow dry. Second lightly sandblast and blow clean with hight pressure air. The manifold will then accept Clear Coat if you want the aluminum to show but I recommend Epoxy Under coat followed by Ceramic Engine Enamel and bake in oven at 240 for 20 mins or until paint stops smoking. The baking not only produces a smooth and shinny finish but makes it extremely hard and oil resistant.

Note: Glass Bead does not work all that well but will do. Either Quarts or preferably Graded Slag Sand works best and is much cheaper then bead.

If the oxidation has eaten into bolt holes or thermostate boses your looking at aluminum welding.

It isn't bad at all but just annoying considering the rest of the engine. Really Dont want to go through removing and blasting since it will soon be on the road for the first time in 10yrs:hurray:
