I am in the process of putting my 70 back together after a paint job. Yesterday I finally got it looking like a car again but had a problem when I put on a new front bumper. The lever that you pull to pop the hood latch is sticking out about 3 inches from the bumper. I can't remember how far it was before but I think it was almost flush or even back in a little. And now when you pull it it has a binding feel to it and the hood wont open. I never took it off or messed with it, and I played with it for about an hour and can't figure how else it would go. Anyone ever run into this problem before?

On my 72 the lever does NOT stick out past the bumper, maybe loosen the frame mount points and pull forward on the bumper, or is the latch itself bent?

As far as the hard to open hood, look at the three attachment bolts that hold the rod like locking piece on the hood. Loosen these up a little and adjust it front to back so it hits the hole centered. Then loosen the large nut and you can screw the main piece in or out, if you screw it out just a touch that should keep the hood from being held down so hard.

A lot of people just adjust the hood stops up to tighten the hood, but they don't adjust the main catch.
