Everytime I drive my car it pains me to see new chips on my lower quarter panels. I'm thinking of mud flaps  ...I know I know they look horrible but the chips look worse IMOP.
I did see on Shadetree Mechanic once a product from 3M which looked like contact paper. Anybody try it?
Thanks!

I've used the 3-m stuff but it is a bit pricey in my opinion, can't remember what it is called. It is noticeable and becomes more obvious with age. I'd install the mudflaps.

If it's bad enough to repaint, 3M also makes a rattle can anti chip coating. I used it on my Camino, drove it daily for 3 years (year round) and it stood up well. You can tape off, spray it on and paint right over it. Looks kinda lumpy, but does the trick. Just be sure the area is WELL ventilated when you do it.

Yes, going thru one of my many catalogs one evening, I ran across a spray on coating for drag racers that will allow removing melted rubber on the lower quarter and protect the paint itself. It showed a pic and it appeared to be a lumpy clear coating like mentioned already. If I can find it I will post a link. Do not install mud flaps  in my opinion.

any 4 x 4 truck catalog should list a clear rocker panel adhesive that stops exactly what you are concerned about
