I have a question as to which transmission should I use. I have now a Borg Warner T-10 Wide Ratio Transmission which I am having rebuilt as we speak. (new synco's 2nd gear grinding when shifting) I am planning on putting a 496 Big Block 11 to 1 cr with Aluminum heads and a 280 Comp cam in over the winter. my question is which transmission would hold up better a T-10 or M-22w?

this has been talked about many times. It is said by the trans. guru's here that an IRON case St-10 is stronger than an M22 but your asking about a T-10. I dont know for sure but I think the M22 may be stronger than it.

Thanks for the quick response. I should have stated that it is a ST-10, it does have a aluminum case (903)

The aluminum case is not as strong than the Iron case. As far as how much weaker? I'll let one of the trans. guys get that one. I'm biased towards the M22 (see my sig) anyways.

If the car hooks it really doesn't matter that much you will break just about anything that isn't trick (expensive). The iron case ST-10 is just about the best thing you can afford but stay away from the 3.42 gear set.
