My drivers side outside mirror on my 69 Malibu is loose on the ball swivel, is there any way to tighten this up.

If I replace the mirror, do I have to remove the door panel or can I just unscrew the mirror from the outside.
Are there nuts on the inside of the fendor I need to get at?

Can all be done from the outside. there should be two holes in the door. The rubber seal and main bracket attach with two self tapping screws. The mirror itself slides over one end of the bracket and then is attached at the other end with one screw.
