At a swap meet today i bought a TCI trans shield and a flywheel shield. I have a 1970 Big Block Chevelle and I looked through the search function and found some conflicting info. So anyone else running that type ? what did you have to do to get it in ?
Thanx

It would not fit into my 70 Chevelle, probably due to the tall deck block. The trans case is very close to the body with the cross member in place.

A better choice for limited room often is the CSR shield. They fit more snugly to the case than a metal shield does.

Best choice is an Ultra Bell...
I seriously doubt that TCI will fit without mods to the firewall.

I run an ultra bell and a blanket in my stock floor chevelle.

The problem with the Ultra-Bell in that situation is just as mentioned above... you have to use a blanket on the trans itself. They hold in heat which is not a good thing. But, if that is the end choice I'd make sure and have an accurate temp gauge with the sender in the pan. If it won't stay under 200 then get a bigger cooler with a fan on it, and also a move to synthetic fluid will drop temps by at least 15.

Hey this is not what I want to hear. I don't care about using a hammer and a little heat, but cutting the floor means I need help, then I may as well get the CSi shield.

I'm in the process of installing a TCI Shield on my TH-400 right now. The first shield wouldn't even fit the transmission, it was way off (bent wrong) but TCI sent me a new one that fit correctly. I have a 79 Camaro and there is no way it will fit inside the tunnel and to complicate matters worse, I'm running a motor plate and mid plate so I can't drop the back side of the engine down. So yesterday I took a zizz wheel (a plasma cutter would have been so much easier) and cut the tunnel out. It was hacked to hell anyways, so I decided to cut it out and weld in a new tunnel. Oh, the joys of hot rodding :D

BTW, I'm running the ultra bell too
