I own a 1969 chevelle and have had it for about 3 months. When i got the car the interior door release seemed to work just fine however lately the inner release has to be pulled all the way up and even then sometimes the door wont open forcing me to use the outside release which always works fine, any suggestions on whats wearing down...do i need to order parts or is there something i need to tighten? Before i pull the inner skin off i thought i would draw on your expertise and maybe have an idea what im doing before i start.Any input would be greatly appreciated.thank you

The part that the handle attaches to is probably worn. The splined shaft rides on the metal housing of the assembly. The hole in the housing wears causing the shaft to move in the hole rather than rotate. Unfortunately this type of assembly was only used thru 72 so donors are some what hard to find. They are left and right specific, but the rear door assembly from a 4 door may work and would have less wear than a front door.
