What type of caulk shoud i use for sealing around the inside of my bed and for sealing the bed panel so it doesn't leak and rust out again.

Check with your local body supply store for a paintable body caulk Something non silicone based I imagine

I could be wrong here, but I thought that they used seam sealer. Anyone know for sure.

I used 3M urethane seam sealer on mine. You have to buy a special gun to apply it because it comes in a soft plastic bag that you cut the end out of then put in the gun. I think its better than the 3M fast and firm caulk because it seems to get harder.

Whatever you use must be paintable. I masked of the area to be caulked and it came out pretty good. Pull the masking tape as soon as you can though and the caulk will lay down good and not leave a ridge.

I haven't done the smugglers box yet but I will do the same thing only I will use the 3M fast and firm under the cover and then clean whatever squeezes out away and use the urethane sealer on the topside except for the rear edge(closest to tailgate) of the cover which I think would be fine as long as the Fast and Firm sealer sealer is applied on the underside well.

i used fusor seam sealer it can be used with a caulking gun and is a urethane based product i used it on all the seams on my 65 chevelle and it worked better than any of the 3m stuff and that impressed me cause 3m makes some prett good products. i don't know where to get it in your neck of the woods, but big a auto parts carries it here

I used 3M's all around auto body sealent, it cost me about $7.00 for a tube and it fits in a regular caulk gun. This stuff is paintable and looks like orignal when finished.

The above suggestions seem great. Check this link for the reason not to use your average 'around the home' type of caulking. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/Forum13/HTML/000456.html

thanks for the replies. expecially the info on not using vinegar smelling caulk. i think i've got it narrowed down to seam sealer or all-around. maybe i'll ask the guy at finishmasters.
