Today when I opened my hood I heard a "sproing" noise from my hood hinges. Now the when I close the hood, the rear now sits about 2" higher than before and the front rubs on the head light surrounds. The hinges are original. anyone know what happened and will they operate correctly if I have them rebuilt. Any suggestions?

They are pretty simple. You should be able to see what is different between the left and the right and figure out what is wrong. Then take action. Unless the metal actually broke, you can have them rebuilt good as new.

Driver's side is the problem, passenger side appears to be ok.

sounds like a rivet gave way.
I would buy a new set of hinges.
