well first let me say merry christmas to all.hope everyone had a safe holiday. my exhaust system arrived from tamrazs. they said it would be aluminized pipe but looks like plain steel to me ,no markings on pipe. i would like to paint the system, but not sure what to use. i did a search and most are saying eastwoods exhaust paint is good. would like to hear from anyone who has done this. btw, this is a manifold back system.thanks in advance

I've used Eastwood's on exhaust manifolds and worked great.

Forget the paint. Why would you keep an exhaust system that is gonna be a rusty mess a year after you paint it, when you were told it was aluminized?? I'd send it back and and make them pay for the shipping. Then order a good system from a reputable co. like Gardener.

Don't jump to rash conclusions. Aluminized doesn't mean it's going to be sparkly shiny like stainless. To the untrained eye, aluminized exhaust components may look like regular steel. Get another opinion before going off half cocked.

well let me say that the pipes that were on the car looked fairly new had 307 in then now 454 the pipe was only 2inch but was marked alumi. the new pipe is 2 1/2 but i see no markings ,but mabe it is aluminized. but i would still like to paint it so its looks better. eastwood sells exhaust paint i have used their manifold paint on my skylark and it has held up good so far 4 years, just wanted to know if their exhaust paint was as good and what i should do to prepare the pipe for paint. thanks bill

i'm not sure i would pay eastwoods high price for paint for exhaust tubing.if it was a part that would see extremely high temps and was always visible(such as headers) i could understand.i painted my ultra-flo mufflers with a decent quality high heat aluminum spray paint and they look great.just my penny's worth. smile.gif
