I am having my engine block tank dipped, magna-fluxed and machined. When I get it back it will be ready for painting. Any tips on prepping and paint? I am a newby so all info will be useful. Thanks, Kevin in Houston

POR-15 engine painting kit - some don't like, I love it, makes the block look like it is coated in plastic, do a search on"POR-15 engine paint" here and in Engine/drivetrain section.

Brushes on, takes an afternoon or two.... nice stuff.

our paint store has a formula for chevy orange. if its going to be real nice car i use dupont imron paint on my engines. its a little expensive but it looks good and is very durable.

we painted the motor in my dads 57 with it about 2 years ago and it still looks brand new. it hasn't even turned brown yet where the exhaust crossovers are on the intake manifold. this is a major problem with lesser quality paints. those 2 brown strips on the intake look awful. so far the imron seems to do good.

I use Dupli-Color Engine Paint W/Ceramic. Never had a problem with the paint discoloring or burning off. Looks fantastic even years later. Best stuff I've found.
