Hey guys,

I need to replace the driver's side quarterpanel on my 70 SS. I was told to go NOS (New Old Stock)
because it will line up better than the Repro, which doesnt line up very well (supposedly).
What are your thoughts? and Is this for real?
Which should I go with?
By the way, I will have a professional with experience on classic cars do the job.
Thanks. :D

i would go with N.O.S. They usually are more expensive but the quality is unbeleivable. I have a nos drivers side quater panel for my 67 and cost around 700 bones. Repos are just cheap and they don't fit and more problems

good luck on your 70' graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Need a orig. SS hood for it, email me if you are interested.

Ive installed one pair of 70 goomark full OEM quarters, going to do a sencond pair this summer hopefully. Anyway they fit just fine. The lines all match, the seems, gaps and whatnot are all the same when compared to a NOS quarter. I have a pair of NOS quarters that I compared them too. Fitted the goodmarks got them where I liked them, then removed and fitted NOS quarters and got the same lines and gaps. The repro are a bit lighter in gauge of metal, when I tested mine they were about one guage thinner. Check out my link below for some pics of the goodmark quarters.

One of my chevelles is nothing but goodmark parts and Ive yet to experience any type of fitment issue. Yes there is some bending and slight reworking, but I DONT CARE IF THE PART IS NOS, USED OR AFTERMARKET it will take some reworking to fit YOUR properly...period

Check out this post I had on fenders for my 70.

As sevn_t said there is nothing wrong with the goodmark 1/4's. And besides that if you do find a true set of NOS 70 quarters, you will prpbably not want to pay the money that they will bring. Any competent bodyman will have no trouble fitting the goodmark quarters.

This may be wrong but I heard somewhere that Goodmark bought the original tooling from GM that they use to reproduce the panels. True or wishfull thinking?

My oppinion is: if you have the money to spend on NOS, and can find them, get em. If you are going to spend tons less cash graemlins/thumbsup.gif for Goodmark, then do that.

I'm with Jeff on this one. If you can find and afford NOS, get it. Of course, NOS might be cheaper than repro in the long run.

For years NOS has been the way to go. But lately Goodmark's quality has been better than in the old days.

I suggest that you find several people who have used the specific Goodmark products that you want to use. See how it worked out for them. Then make your decision.
