I need an idea how to support the body to get the frame out. Heres what Im planning..

Wheels off, frame is on jackstands
I would like to weld brackets onto heavy duty 5" casters and bolt them to the frame.
The casters will bolt on each corner under door.
Now how would you hold the body up to get the frame out.or to just lower the frame on the caster brackets. The car is in the corner of the garage and the frame cant go strait out.
The body has all enterior out and front clip off. but it does have all the glass in. I thought I saw an idea to support with the rockers my rockers are in very good shape.
will normal rafters hold the body long enough to get the frame out? any help or experiences is appreciated

You make it difficult when you say the frame can't be slid out straight. You can take the body loose, raise it about three feet using engine hoists or roof trusses however, only you can decide how much weight they can support. Figure on about 450 pound per end.

Or you can raise the body off the frame using an engine hoist front and rearthe problem. Once it clears the frame, put a 4x4 in the front and rear and support by what ever means you have available. There lies in how to get the frame out if it can't come out the front.

You may try hoisting it up with the engine hoists and removing the frame, then lower it onto some type of stands or 4x4s supported by stands. Hopefully, that is what you are looking for.

I used a engine hoist on the front and a chain hoist on the back. Slid 4x4's underneath and set it all on saw horses. Rolled the frame out. I have pictures of the entire process on my web site. Clicking on the pictures will enlarge them for better detail.

when I removed my 65 body, I did it similar to smithyjc. Raised front with engine hoist. Blocked it up with 4 x 4 on pails. Moved to back. Raised, blocked with 4x4 on saw horses. Moved to front, up more again, blocked, etc. Then let air out of tires, and rolled frame out from under body. Worked easy, better than expected.
