My buddy has a HVLP gun that I can use for primmer that has the proper 1.6mm tip that I am looking for.

The gun says FinishLine By ITW DeViLBiss Max Inlet Pressure 23PSI on the handle and it has FLG embossed in the side of the frame. The aircap says HVLP #3 on it.

Has anybody used this gun? Will it work for primmer? What PSI should I really run? Thanks for any help. Zach

That gun will work great for primer, excellent material transfer with this gun. Make sure your compressor delivers enough air volume for hvlp. In my opinion not the best gun for applying paint but it will throw primer just fine. I would suggest experimenting with it after you load your primer. I always try to use the lowest amount of air that will transfer the primer correctly thus eliminating as much overspray as possible. Heck sometimes I hold the gun close on small spots and dial the pressure down to 8psi do a partial trigger pull and spot the primer where needed. You need to practice with the gun, there is no perfect setting for all applications. Now if you were doing assembly line work, spraying the same material, same gun, same object being sprayed, same air volume available--then there would be a perfect setting for the gun. :D
