i recently bought a 65 malibu rag top and i was looking for suggestions on tire and wheel size that will fit as well as the offset that i will need.
I am a big fan of rallys but am open to suggestions...

it currently has the 14 inch factory rims and hubcaps so i can only go up from here..

thanks

i have a 64 which is pretty much the same frame and body as yours. I am running 15inch rally wheels from a vette. I had 14inch black steel rims like you but i changed them over. They look really nice. I bought a set of real 68 wheels that were professionally restored, with NOS trim rings and excellent shape caps for $380 shipped to my door from ebay. If you want new everything summit has all this stuff. I think new it would come to about $450. As far as size i got 15x7's all around with 4 3/8 backspacing. This i would say is the least you would need with backspacing. I had to take my drum off to get my wheel in place and then i had to slide the drum behind the wheel while holding it in the air to get the drum back on. Not easy. It is a 2 man job. The tire size i finally went with was 215/65. I was thinking of going with 235's but with the backspacing i have it would have been to wide. The 215/65 is almost the same as the 225/70. The tread width is .5inches less but the section width is acutally more on the 215/65's. And the 65's give it a slightly lower profile. It fills all my wheel wells very nice. By the way the tires i went with were Dunlop Gt Qualifiers.I got them on Tirerack.com . I think i spent around $700 but it was well worth it.
