I took my dash off of my 72 Chevelle SS over the weekend and found a light hanging behind the ash tray. Does anyone have any idea where this light goes. The seat belt light is in the proper spot, but I can seem to find any bracket to hold this one. The light comes on when I turn on the headlights. Thanks

Sounds like it is the one that plugs into your heater controls, on the pass side. Is it a small, globe shaped bulb?

it is a small round bulb, but I think there is one still in the heater controls. If the car was here I would go check now, but It will have to wait for the weekend.

Do you have the stock radio or has it been upgraded? Factory radios had a dash bulb, aftermarkets are self illuminated.

72 radios came with the light in the radio. You say SS so I assume it has the round gauge dash. If so the only lights in the dash harness should be for seat belt, A/C heat control panel and glove box.
