I have heard many good things about them, and they have been on the market long enough to be used and abused. What are your thoughts?

I've read the "similar threads" at the bottom of the page and it looks like it is a worthy $100 investment. I am on my second bronze gear, now.

Why not just get a steel gear on the cam and use a stock dist. gear? Any advantages to a polymer distributor gear?

2 years, 100 passes, several hundred street miles.
Looks like new.
They don't shed metal like a bronze gear. In other words, they aren't designed to be sacrificial, like a bronze gear.
Some cams aren't avail with a steel gear. like my Comp custom roller.
And if the plastic gear fails.....you have plastic in the motor, not metal.
I'm sold.

Ya, my cam is about 10 years old. Old technology. The new cam will have a billet steel gear.

If you have a billet roller that doesn't have the cast gear option on it, just send it here........http://www.deltacam.com/

These folks will cut off the whole end of the cam, old gear and all and install a new cast gear and last journal.. They're pretty darn reasonable, too. Cheaper than the polymer distributor gear, anyhow, even with shipping.

I had this done to my custom ground Comp billet roller that's in my 540. They did a beautiful job and it's working flawlessly.

Turnaround time was one week.

My Lunati hyd roller came with it already installed, I asked for it specifically when ordering and he said "it already has it"!

Same with me....I have the iron gear on my solid roller. Has worked for years with stock dist gear and it has LOTS of street miles (2000+ mile road trips) as well as race time.

The pressed on iron gear is one of the bes things they ever came up with!!

No fancy stuff needed!!

I had Comp grind mine on a billet core and added a cast gear to it.

I had ordered my "cutom"Comp solid roller with a request for the pressed in iron gear, but it arrived with the gear being cut on the billet core.

I'd already sent back my EndurX rollers for a refund, didn't want to push my luck by returning the cam too. Purchased the polymer gear, but have yet to run it.
Keeping my fingers crossed after it 's on the road. From the responses here, perhaps I wont have anything to worry about.
