: location of hood pins..
BowtieAaron Jun 15th, 04, 9:55 AM hey ya'll.
i got a set of hoodpins for my 71 a few months back, and now i am wanting to put them on.
where is the right locatin for these things? i have a hole in my rad support right next to the rubber hood stopper, but when i close the hood, the hole in the bracing doesnt match up. is that where it is suposed to go? i did some searching but i couldnt find anything.
can somebody give me the location to where it is suposed to be mounted, or give me mesurments to where it is suposed to be as well.
thanks
aaron

If your car did not origianlly have hood pins, the core support will not have the correct holes in it. You will have to drill them. I have some measurements in a notebook out in the garage and will try to get a couple of pictures to post later this evening.
BillK Jun 15th, 04, 7:56 PM Aaron,
Here are some pics, including a template I made off my original 71 hood:

BillK Jun 15th, 04, 8:33 PM Aaron,
I suppose if you want it to look "correct" you could make the holes oblong. I would just make sure the hole in the bottom of the hod was big enough to clear and dont worry about it. Make sure and save the pics, I don't know how long I will leave them up on my web space.
BowtieAaron Jun 15th, 04, 8:56 PM oh, wut i ment was the oblonged hole is where i woudl drill for the pin to come through correct?
and yes i saved them.
thanks again man

The hole in the top surface of the hood is not enlongated, it is round.
