The Twins beat the Chicago White Sox 5-to-1 today, but had to wait for the outcome of Detroit's game against Kansas City to find out who would end up atop the Central Division.
Kansas City beat Detroit 10-to-8 in 12 innings, jettisoning the Twins over the Tigers for the division title. Making major league history as the Team winning the division never having been in first place till the last day!
The Twins will start the playoffs at home against Oakland on Tuesday.
The Tigers are the A-L wild card team in the playoffs and will open their series Tuesday at Yankee Stadium against New York.

As you can tell by the screen name I like the Twins and they had a great second half to come back and win the division. I don't think the AL Central has ever been stacked like it was this year, having three teams with 90+ wins.

Chris R Oct 9th, 06, 3:13 AM All that exitement of the fans and the team was in good strong hopes from the regular season. All to go out in 3 games. It was fun while it lasted I guess.
Talk about yer short lived euphoria. Twins Yanks series may have been a better match up after all. :sad:
