1Quik7D Aug 29th, 01, 1:51 PM In preparation for painting the door jambs, I removed the old roof rail weatherstrip and noticed that it fits in a chrome “gutter” or “channel” that screws to the top of the roof rail. I’d like to remove this piece and clean up all the adhesive so that I can apply paint. If I remove it, what can I use when putting it back in? Will weatherstrip adhesive do the trick? Scot JodySirmans Aug 29th, 01, 2:06 PM I took some 3M "camper shell" weatherstripping (sticky sided neoprene) and placed on the channel. i used strip caulking along the edge, and placed over tip screw heads on the inside part of the channel. Glue the weather strip in with 3M Black. ------------------ Jody Sirmans 71 SS454 ACES micky69396 Aug 29th, 01, 8:09 PM If you are careful you can pull this moulding down without hurting the seal usually, when the time comes you can just use the screws to put it back up nd it will still seal. If you need to replace the seal we use black strip caulk and it works fine also.
