My car currently has a 454 ourt of a 86 suburban. I put a new cam/lifter set and carb intake on it (had an oil pressure problem). Bottom line, guy I bought the car from duped me/stuck me with bad bearings and hid it with thick oil etc. I have a line on a re-built 455 Pontiac. Can I put my parts, cam, intake, etc. on that. I am not sure at this time what the 455 came out of, but is there any performance diff between the oval 454 and pontiac 455 (not sure of intake/exhaust) on the 455.

A 454 Chevy and a 455 Pontiac are two completely different animals. They were each designed at a time before the GM "corporate engine" strategy came into effect.
Even the bellhousing bolt patterns on the back of the block are different.

AND I would suggest buying the 455 Pontiac if it is a good one b/c there aren't all that many of them around..
IF you have the spare cash is all.. For later..
Powerful motor too in their day!!!
Bttt, you can do a lowend job on your 454 for not all that much money if you want to and the crank will turn undersized OK. You will probably come out ahead..
AND please check out Ohio Crankshaft Company for inexpensive rotating assemblies Especially their 496 forged rotating ass. for about $1200 or so...
