While in the process of replacing my pass.side 1/4 panel i discovered a square opening just behind the door jam, Upon looking inside it appears to be a sub floor under the bed. Actualy if you crawl under the truck (elcamino) your looking right at it. It was all rusted, am wondering should i just let it go or fix it, idon't know how to get to it, maybe from above thru the bed? The things you find on a restoration job, also if i skip fixing that area, what could happen, the bed collapse or what, thanks

I am not sure, and I don't know what year El Camino you have, but I seem to recall on my 66 El Camino, that it had full floor pans just like any othe Chevelle, I think it even had the rear seat belt nuts in place. I know for 64-67 the wheel base is the same as the Chevelle...

I think that the Elcos are the same as station wagons in the floor. If you pull up the panel at the front end of the bed (on my 71 it was screwed down) you should be able to see the floors. by looking down into the hole.
Replacing these floors would help keep water out from under the bed. and out of the passenger compartment I would think.
Although you could just leave em out then water from the bed wouldn't get down there. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
