ok i just got my car back from the body shop painted the whole works and was wondering i found a spot on my fender not to big but it was the paint just scatched to the fender and then i was RINSING the car with a garden hose to get the dust off of it and i bumped it witht he hose on the trunk lid and a lil bit or more paint came off and i was just asking how long with it take to harden the paint and what other ways is there to speed this up it sits in the garge. and a damn cat crawled on it and im gonna kill it and barely scratched it and what kind of wasx works on takeing small scratches out. thanx joe

Now, on your fender and trunk, was the paint scrathed or does it look like its lifting? I saw the pictures on your website and what a transition! graemlins/thumbsup.gif The guy who painted my car said to wait a month before waxing, so I waited 2. I used Meguires Gold class after those 2 months. So I'm guessing if he said don't wax for a month then the paint is still "green" as I like to call it, or still curing. I'm sure the big paint buffs can correct me on that one. If the paint was actually lifting and you just got it back from the shop, then I'd definately ask them about it.
Sounds to me like kitty needs kicked through the goal posts of life. :D
I really hope this helps

How long ago was this painted? Normal procedure is 24 hr cure to cut and buff. That is buff not wax. REPEAT! No wax for 30 days. As far as the scratch into primer, respray the trunklid is about the only option other than a funky repair.

I was just wondering what you meant by "they're MEXICANS." MEXICANS are who painted my car the last time I had it painted (about 14 years ago) and they did an excellent job. Where I live the majority of people are of MEXICAN descent including me.

My basic rule of thumb has always been "If the paint doesn't smell like paint anymore, wax it"

Paint can be wet sanded the next day so it shouldn't be soft weeks later. Maybe not waxed for a few weeks but that doesn't mean its not hard. Just being safe.

if you think the cat was hard on the paint wait till the birds get a run at it.. maybe put cat to work on the birds ??? my 2 cents keep car in garage till its waxed.. graemlins/angry.gif birds graemlins/angry.gif & as for the people who painted the car ... I speak spanish & you could only understand what they're saying about the crazy red neck gringo's & race cars graemlins/thumbsup.gif can't we just all get along ?? graemlins/beers.gif
