Question came up just now on another forum about how much to torque down body mounts.

I told him he could close up his door gaps on a convertible by tightening to much.

Which made me wonder, if you do over tighten in the door area, would that have an effect on the quarter to roof welds or bondo or paint cracking in that area, that is a problem area, mainly from not welding it solid.

But does anybody think that the tightening could effect it.

Also would rubber or poly mounts make a difference , or put it into a slight bind.

I ask him to get some measurements on the door gap before he torqued them down, even though it is a hardtop, of which I don't think it will really matter, as far as the door gaps.

Anybody got an ideas on this?
