68 Velle SS..

Well I have a wonderful mess atm and am going back and forth over what to do. I will be replacing my harness as it is not at all worth the attempt at repairing and was wondering what people have done and had good luck with and possibly what to avoid. I have looked around for a dash harness and have found a few like from M&H.. Due to the mess I have been thinking on upgrading the wiring and of course now it is a must. Is the cost difference worth it to get an actual reproduction replacement or would something like EZ be worth the time?

I am the type of person that likes to do things right the first time and figure just replace everything front to back although the cost of an exact reproduction vrs an aftermarket is costly. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would go with the M&H. Have used theirs and it fits perfectly. Well worth the cost. Right color coded wires, right fittings and perfect fit.

The deal is either you spend a lot of time fabricating with a generic hot rod harness OR you spend a lot of money for a plug and play OEM style harness. The dash harness is probably the most complicated and most expensive harness on the whole car. How electrically inclined are you?

On my '68 Elky I just did a rebuild of my original harness using a new OEM fuse panel from American Autowire.

For the OEM plug and play, both M&H and American Autowire (Factory Fit) offer good products.

I agree with Steve. M&H and AAW worked great for me, as well. I've rewired from the tail lights up to the firewall and it was pretty simple. I've now started under the hood. If you'd like to see some shots let me know and I can email you with them. I have a '69.

Thanks for the input everyone. Its a time thing for me and there are things that I want to know I personally have done while others would cost me more in my own time than just to purchase. I was just unsure of the quality of the exact replacements and of course the term "exact" does not always "fit". For the cost my auto is worth every penny and it will save me alot of time. Thanks once again for your inputs!

The benefit of using an OE replacement by M&H or A/W is say down the road you have to troubleshoot another problem
not necessarily with the harness, but say a guage, headlight switch, etc.. you can reference back to the factory
wiring diagrams to troubleshoot.

(Not that you'd have anymore problems after replacing the dash harness. )

Are you keeping the stock dash cluster?

If not a generic wiring kit might clean things up and be cheaper.
