I am going to paint my old bumpers on my 78 EC, nothing professional but what is the best way to rough up the surface for paint to stick to? Chrome is not peeling but appears to be cracking.

I used a D/A sander with 80 grit paper to rough up the chrome then sprayed them with etching primer and then primer surfacer to fill in any nicks/scratches......it's been that way for 7 years....no peeling and it doesn't chip very easy either http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Peace
Matt

p.s. heres a picture of my '80 Malibu that I repainted in April '02 (time for a color change http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif)
