Not sure if this belongs here or in interiors...

OK so my pup is my best friend. Before the Grand Cherokee got totalled, he went everywhere with me in that thing. As he will in my '65.

My question to the seasoned Chevellers and dog owners in the group is this. How do you keep the interior nice and the dog somewhat safe.

My guy is a jumper, so my plan is to rig a chain in between the rear seat that attaches to his leash and gives him room to move around and lay down, but keeps him safely in the car.

I was also thinking of buying one of those Mexican blankets to cover the rear seat and keep it safe from his claws.

How do you keep the car nice and your dog safe? What are your experiences? have any good stories?

Thanks as always.

My interior stinks, and its got dog hair all over the seats, but when I go, buster goes, he's about 15 lbs, not the sharpest tool in the box, but we run rabbits and squirrels right out of the car, if the traffic is clear.

He doesn't get belted in or put on any kind of a leash in the car, when he's riding with me he's on his own.

If you're going to a Cruise spot, leave him at home, if you're just out for a drive, put something protective over the seats he will occupy.

I really don't see myself going to cruise spots. I pretty much got this car for my enjoyment, not to show off. The only shows I plan on going to are the ones that sell parts. But hell, who knows, that may change one day.

He hasn't been in the car yet. Figured why tease him with a ride if the car can't physically drive.
