Getting ready to paint some parts with some semi gloss Delstar. All I have is some urethane reducer, Would this be OK to use?

A urethane reducer would probably be a bit risky, but I've done complete paint jobs and a ton of assorted parts with acrylic enamel using lacquer thinner as a reducer. I've even used lacquer thinner to reduce basecoat color when painting small parts and didn't have the correct reducer readily available.

Whew!! That ought to start a firestorm about experimental chemistry! smile.gif

Here's the deal. It's always best to use the correct and recommended additive and reducers with any paint products. Sometimes circumstances and/or finances can cause us to try other things. Occasionally we have successful results. Sometimes, the results can be disasterous. Be prepared for the latter if you don't follow instructions.

Thanks for the replies! found out MEK will work. I will try on a small area first.

I can't believe the prices of materials nowdays, they wanted $35 for a gal. of reducer.

Back in the old days I used to fix up old tractors and we would use gasoline to thin the synthetic enamel, it worked...........lol
