: 64-65 Bucket Seat Question
Did 64-65's use the small bracket/stud at the front outside corners like the one circled in the photo below? The floor pans of my 64 have been previously replaced in those areas and the only thing currently installed is the original longer bracket on the driver side.

Come on guys...someone has to know. ;)
67 Nevada Chevelle Sep 30th, 06, 4:44 PM You got the same replies that I did on my 66-67 bucket seat mounting question. Nothing.
I have a 67 and what you show is the factory mounting plates for at least 66-67 bucket seats. Don't know about 64-65. What does the seat bracket that the seat slides attach to look like? This is the piece that ties the seat to the mounting plate? Does it have one hole in front and two in back? If so, then it probably the same as 66-67. Do you have two tapped holes in the back rear where the seat bracket would attach? If so here is a tip I picked up from reading the achives here.
" make sure you have the buckets sitting correctly before welding them down, make sure the seatbelt will bolt to the floor. The outer mounting hole on the rear of the bucket track goes to the INNER hole in the floor pan."
Sorry I couldn't help you more on your problem.
Jr1964 Oct 1st, 06, 12:36 AM Not sure if this helps, but I've got a 64 Malibu SS w/ buckets. Got a few
pics here...

The longer bracket is used on the left side, or should I say left side on driver
seat and right side on passenger seat. I don't have the smaller bracket used on
my front buckets. I almost think the smaller one is used for the rear seat but not 100%.
I could check in the morning and if it is I'll get some shots for you.

Great! There's the answer.
If the front has a bolt coming down from above, that means the car doesn't use the small bracket with a mounting stud pointing upward.
JJ67SS Oct 1st, 06, 11:37 PM The GoodMarkIndustries site has a picture of the correct install for these brackets....

....for 66-72. Apparently not for 64-65 based on the info above. I used these Goodmark brackets in my 69 elky. Nice stuff. Worked well.
tlowe Oct 2nd, 06, 8:28 AM 64-67 chevelles. the outer two bolts go directly into the floor board in the bench seat locating holes. the inner two are held down with the bracket. i have pulled many of these out through the years. also 64-65 have a slightly shorter bolt spread for the bracket. tom

OK....I give up. :( It seems they're all different like so many things with these cars. Must have been an assembly plant or date of manufacturing thing.
67 Nevada Chevelle Oct 3rd, 06, 12:48 AM I know I shouldn't further confuse the issue, but I can't help myself. Direct from that fountain of all car knowledge, eBay, comes the ultimate answer to all our seat mounting questions from Nickey's Chevy Parts.:beers:

If you believe Nicky, There is no difference in 64 - 72 Chevelle seat mounting.
A question for Tom Lowe; You don't happen to remember what was the spacing for the 64-65? Was it 14 1/4"? Just trying to chase down a issue on what was proper spacing on a 66-67 vs. 64-65.
Thanks.
......If you believe Nicky......
No thanks. :D
