I took this picture at the SCCCC show 3 years ago. I'm pretty sure the owner told me then that the color was Evening Orchid. Looks real nice anyway.

Do you guys think this color would look good on a 69 with Black side stripes and black interior?

Your asking, that color doesn't look like it would go with anything, it just flat out doesn't look good, you wouldn't be color blind would you?

Not colored blind. Though you would not be the first to accuse me of it... :)Trying to find something different that is not too out there. Something for a lady to drive that my nephew won't be ashamed of when I give him the Chevelle.

I don't think your nephew would want to drive anything that color, but why don't you ask him what color he would like.

Did you see overhaulin on tv last night with the 13 year old boy, he helped chip pick out the color, it was a really nice story.

You should talk to your nephew more about this, but if it will be a surprise, somebody needs to know what color he would like, then if it agrees with you, you're good to go.

I still can't imagine anyone buying a new car with that color, I would have to put that color right at the top of the list, as far as

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAHH HHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

How old is this nephew, he might want something flashy, a lot of teen agers like to get right out there and make a statement. The way you're talking, I'm guessing here, but somebody might need to untie the apron strings on this young fella.http://www.chevelles.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

Gail, heres a little story for you.

Back in 1953 I was 12 years old, and I had two older brothers, and my dad worked on road construction. We didn't have much money, lived in a little town in northern michigan, about 250 people.

I came home from school that day, walked in the house and my folks said, come on out to the garage rob, we want to show you something.

I'm thinking, what did I do, I must be in some kind of trouble.

We went out there, and dad opened the door, and there was a brand new bicycle, I couldn't believe it, I couldn't ever remember seeing a new bicycle, yet alone getting one.

I thanked them and thanked them, jumped on it and rode away.

But, there both gone now, and I would never have ruined this special thing they did for me, but a friend of mine had a bicycle with the real skinny tires, and he could really fly on that bike.

I would have given anything to have even a used skinny tired bike. I really liked that new bike, and I have never forgot that day, but that was a case of a lack of communication. I would never ask for anything like that.

I'll never forget some of the sacrifices all of our family did for each other, things like that you never forget.

Parents and aunts and uncles talk to the younger people more then they used to, or for that matter more then I did with my own children when they were growing up.

For a pic of a 65 in evening orchid, see a thread I started in the restoration forum on Sept 25 at 8:46 am. Thread title "Q for RichL79 or others about rear cove 65" The car is owned by BAD415. It looks nice to me.

I hate to admit it - but Rob is right. My nephew is 19 and away at college. He is a great kid and has had to put up with a lot. Dad was in Iraq most of his HS years and he was stuck in house with 5 females.

He and I worked on his stereo in his car but he is really more into sports and computers than cars. I gave his two sisters cars so I feel bad I did not give him one. Oldest sister got a five year old Camry and he shared that car with her until he left for college. I just rebuilt a 1994 Thunderbird for his younger sister - body was good just put in new V8 engine from a Crown Vic. I know he will love the Chevelle because he has seen me workingn on it and says it is the coolest car ever. I did want to surprise him and know if I ask him about paint colors he will know I am planning to give it to him.

So what about a Black Cherry? The car has black interior that is in great shape so I would like to leave it. I am open to suggestions.

Ask his sisters what his favorite color is. It will give you an idea on where to go. Gail. ciick HERE (http://www.chevellestuff.com/index.htm) then click on 69, chevelle, paint codes. It will bring up all the 69 colors. If you click on the color name it will open a pic of a 69 in that color.

Gail, black cherry would be great, it's a color you like, and any teenager or young person would surely like it also, go for the black cherry, just do it to it.

Oh, and a black interior with it, excellent.

'65 only colour I believe. Father had a '65 Parissienne in Evening Orchid. I really liked it. Looked awesome with baby moons. Best left for 65s though. Go with a factory '69...
