: Yea!! My car started today...
Steve1968LS2 Sep 27th, 06, 12:03 AM Ok, not a Chevelle but it's a close cousin.. pretty excited here. looks like winter cruising will be in order.
Sort of a milestone.. first firing of the engine in the car.
The switch was flipped and Penny came to life. We only ran her for 30 seconds or so just to make sure all was good but everything seemed fine.
We have a bad fitting on the low pressure side of the rack so I need to replace that, everything else sounded and looked good. Wiring into the racepanel wasn't as tough as I thought it would be. I don't have a key, just a bank of switched for the fuel pump, water pump, lights, power and start.
She is now back at Best of Show in San Marcos for the sheetmetal re-install and minor tweaks. Shouldn't be long now.
Here she is ready to leave the shop:

Here's a cool shot. Notice how low and close to the firewall the LS2 sits. Also notice how the headers tuck up. They barely hang below the frame.

And here's the vid.. pretty excited here..

Steve1968LS2 Sep 27th, 06, 12:20 AM Yea, I'm dying.. I want to work on it 24/7.. lol
Once the body shop hangs the tin back on I just have to wire up the gauges and the GP track computer then put in an interior.. oh, and corner scale and tweak the suspension a bunch. I haven't worked with a three link before.
When this project is done I can start trying to convince the powers that we need to do a Chevelle project car.. my wife asked this of me.. :)
Chris R Sep 27th, 06, 3:57 AM Wow. Thats sweet.
What color red is that?
Wow. Thats sweet.
What color red is that?
Just a guess but it looks more like it is sunset orange metallic than red.
Sweet ride dude. Got some specs on that LS2 you can share? Leaning that way for one of my 69 Camaros. The other is probably getting all the LT-1 stuff out of my 96 T/A. Someday.........
Chris R Sep 27th, 06, 4:25 AM It does kind of look more orange now that I look at it.
hmott Sep 27th, 06, 8:33 AM It reminds me of that copperhead truck color from from the tv show with stacie "trucks" I believe was the name. That car is Awesome! I love the rims, very sporty with the big willwoods showing through. But the real wow is that ls2.
Steve1968LS2 Sep 27th, 06, 10:23 AM Just a guess but it looks more like it is sunset orange metallic than red.

It's 2002 Prowler Orange..
The LS2 build is in the current issue of PHR. AFR heads, a 230/232 Comp cam, FAST intake and the headers made 573/505 on the engine dyno.
Nice part is that it still idles nice. LS2s can suck up more camshaft than the LS1/6 engines.
1BLACKHARLEY Sep 27th, 06, 11:25 AM sick ride dude, yeah i remember the first time my elky fired, not anywhere near the class that your camaro is in, but still to fire it up, means light at the end of the tunnel, the reality that your ride is soon to hit the street, unfortunately mine only lasted about 100 miles before it started to let go, but still, you could'nt pry the smile off my face as i drove to some of my buddies homes to show what me and some of the t/c team had accomplished...
Andy69 Sep 27th, 06, 11:35 AM d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d DAMN!!

just waiting on the wheels to get done then I have to tune it, install an exhaust system and finally beat on it at the track.
The closer it gets to being done the slow it feels like it's going...
2k3Chevelle468 Dec 15th, 06, 7:16 PM Excellent!!!
