Would like the ability to monitor the other PC in real time from another PC, things like Instant messages, myspace surfing, etc, rather than just 'seeing' to which sites are visited. Anyone recommend a good software program for that???

check out VNC it will let you control or monitor what is happening. It is mainly used for remote control but will work if you just want to pop in and see what they are doing. I prefer ultra VNC get it at www.uvnc.com

I know of some people that have used it and it is amazing. It is a logging software, keystrokes, chat, email. It sends the log files to you via email real time.
