How could I tell if my Malibu had an original vinyl top. Would the cowl tag tell me? Thanks.

Yes it should. Normally opposite the PNT line there will be a number code for paint color, if it is repeated twice there was no vinyl top, if the color code is only shown once with another code beside it (probably alpha) then there would have been a vinyl top.

The same coding holds true for convertibles as well.
