MY son was driving his 1994 Firebird when he smelled what he thought were wires burning. Now his blower for the A/C does not work. After this happend his speaker quit working as well, when I unpluged the fan moter the speakers will work.
Can someone shed some light on this for me? where to start, what to check.
Thanks

Fan shorted out? Is that circuit on a circuit on a circuit breaker?

The fan motor is good, took it out and checked.

If he smelled burnt wires and the speakers stopped working, I'd be looking in the dash by the heater/ac controls.

My son also has a 94 Firebird. The heat/AC control assembly is real easy to get at. You will probably find the plug on the fan switch has melted because of a high resistance in the circuit. I had this happen to my 96 Z-71. The fan motor still worked but was pulling about twice the normal amps to run. I replaced the motor, wire harness and control assembly. Works like new again.
