Hi, I have a leak comming from the top of the rear end. I think its the hard line, but cant see above, even with a mirror. I think there is a hose up there as well. The hard lines going to the rear drum are dry. Now, 1, would that be the front to rear line,or the rear line to the wheels. I have the manual but it looks like it can be one or the other.. I guess I need two people,so I can be under the car while he presses the pedal. Its a bitch working alone..sometimes. any ideas?

phil,
what year car?
if you don't have a dual brake system, don't drive the car until you fix the leak.
otherwise, crawl under there and determine if it's the rubber flexible line or the steel line that is leaking.
then you will have to bleed the system, after replacing the defective part.
AND you will need someone to help with the bleeding or get a brake bleed system in order to do it yourself.

Jack the rear of the car into the air. It's easy to see where it's leaking once you can get under there. Be sure and use jack stands!

There's likely also a junction block back there. Of bigger concern than the leak is what's blocking the line from getting any fluid. If the lines are REAL old, you may want to consider replacing them all as they may be internally corroded, and some of the crud has blocked them.
