He posted this a while back and I saved it!

"I work for Custom Camshaft Company, a division of Arrington Manufacturing.
I stay at my house in Senatobia, MS, and telecommute to work in Martinsville Va. My office phone is 662-301-1245, and so far I'm having to take my wife to work, she's a Staff Accountant in Memphis, so I'm not here before 9:00 AM CST or from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM CST. I answer the phone when it rings, and have sold several cams to Team Chevelle members."

Say hello from pdq67 for me..

Maross396 since Harolds number was listed in a previous post, I suggest you call him and tell Harold your displeasure. I'm sure it's easier to flame him on line...but sometimes you have to step up and act like a man. Try to do the right thing.

Your not going to get far bagging on a well respected member like that. This thread isn`t the place for that BS. If you have a problem with UDHarold you should contact him directly like bigjim said.

Thank you for the info PDQ67. I had that number but have been unable to contact him as of late. So I was just checking.

As for the Flammer in this thread. Grow a pair and contact him directly as Harold is a stand up guy. Now if this cam you refer to was from a company he worked for and did not own and run then it would not be Harolds fault if you had problems.

Harold recommend the 401A6Lun on a 112lsa for my 350 SBC, and it behaves exactly as he said it would. Awesome throttle response, power everywhere, and still works my powerbrakes.

Now, if it goes flat, it is not his fault.

Love the cam he recomended for me, 402A2LUN on a 112lsa, and picked up 70+ hp at the rear wheels over the comp cam I had in before.

I'm back. Sorry about being off so long.
My pohone number is still 662-301-1245 for those who want to call.
And I remember nothing about Maross396's cam.
However, if it was an UltraDyne, I suggest he take it up with UltraDyne. I have nothing to do with that company now, and can do nothing for him.
If it was a Lunati, call them. I do not work for them, and can do nothing for him.
The only cam company I can do anything about is Custom Camshaft Company, as I do work for them.
Again, all complaints go to 662-301-1245.
I am generally here now from 8:00 to 5:00 CST, or later, Monday through Friday.

Harold, I have a 60203 in my 454. A lifter started ticking about 25-30 miles ago & I adjusted it. How long untill I hear it again if it is a bad lobe? so far so good. oh geez sorry to hijack the thread.

dreis454,

I would say if it is going bad, you would hear it again within 30 miles or a week. If you check the rockers and it is loosened again, call Steve at 662-8922-1526 about sending it in. If you bought it from Summit or Jeg's, they have their own policies about sending it in. They are both very good about warranties.
I am sorry to hear of your problems with the VooDoo. Overall they have been fairly trouble-free.

For those interested, this afternoon I found out that Advance Auto was putting VooDoo in every single one of their stores, having given Lunati an Half-Million dollar order for them. Also O'Reilly's is adding them in January.
So now there will be somewhere besides Summit and Jeg's, for you guys who like to actually 'look in the box'!
Maybe I should get busy and design some better ones......

maross396 and others of his ilk:

There is NO WAY I would ever want to be in the cam business. Bill Jenkins said every cam grinder had a cam like the one he used in his 331's. There were no secret cams. The cam only opens and closes the valves. Intake velocity and pulsing and exhaust velocity and pulsing is what fills and empties cylinders on HP engines. The cam is just there to keep the combustion gas inside while it does it's work. Then it opens valves to let pulses out and in. The hard part for the cam designer, I believe, is trying to figure how to keep the valves out of the way while all the pulses are trying to get by. Often, people think a different cam will "crutch" their bad combos. That is why you need to decide what RPM range you want your engine to run in and call the cam grinder for advice. Then build the rest of the engine to fit his recommendations. Never try to out guess the guy who has flogged your cam on the dyno. Just my opinion.

Secondly, metal rubbing on metal has a tendency to self destruct. The greater the pressure on the metal pieces, or the smaller the area involved in contact, the greater the chance for failure. Camshafts meet both criteria. Add speed into the equation and you have a situation where the parts have no choice but to fail.

So when your cam goes flat, think about the metals involved and what they are expected to do. Alloyed metal may have hard and soft spots, dense and lighter spots. The inner structure of any metal part is hard to ascertain until failure occurs. Of course, THEN it's obvious. The guy who made it didn't know what he was doing. Don't go through life thinking everybody is out to screw you. Sometimes, the metal just fails, and it's no ones fault.

However, if you are not honest with the cam guys, which means you don't really know what you want, don't be surprised if your not satisfied with their cam. Hot rodding IS THE personally responsibility hobby. Read, ask, learn, hang out with smart people. Don't dump on the cam guys: they are only trying to make a living in an extremely difficult manner with an extremely narrow segment of society, that often doesn't know what they need.
