[B]Hello, i have a 350 engine that i recently changed the stock cast iron intake with a eldebrock torker 2 intake.. i used the same quadrajet , i installed new points and wires and plugs . Point dwell set at 30 ,, Timing at idle with vac plugged is 8 degrees.. vacuum at 1100rpm is 14 . engine sounds great- runs at idle without any stumble. When i give it the gas on the street i get a stumble or jerk the car will get to speed but its like u have to "Nurse" it to get here.. Even at 70 or 80 mph when u try to floor it it stumbles/ jerks .. wish i could explain better. i am getting a 500rpm varation on my tach... like a miss maybe but sure doesnt sound like i have a miss.. any help will be greatttttttttt thanks Phil:clonk:

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. What cam are you running?

Yup. a big un. Should be easy to find. Or a crossed wire.

Bet anything the leak is around that adapter....why are you needing an adapter?

284/228 cam here!

What's your compression ratio??

I figure that cam need's at least 10.5 CR. to run it's best!

And probably like 3.73 rearend gears and like a 26" tall tire..

Drop that cam in an 8.5 to 9 to 1 CR. motor with 3.07's and it will suck!!

As always, jmho...

I am running a adapter plate because the quad wont bolt up directly with the square bore manifold.. actually the adapter plate was a used one and it wasnt flat when checked with a straight edge laying on it.. soooo i took a big flat file and thought i got it true again..

I checked for vac leaks and found one at rear throttle plate shaft. but i thought all the quads had that problem,,, i moved the timing to 12 degrees btdc and ran the car it was much improved. and will get it out later ont he highway to see how it does building speed ( like entering a highway from a ramp.
