Ok, maybe this has been covered but I didn't find much on it doing a search. I am running a Devilbus (sp?) LPHV gun with the pressure regulator and gage at the gun. I also have one of the small touch up guns that I use a lot for small areas that doesn't have a gage at the gun. The spec sheets give you a pressure that you should be running at the nozzle but I've heard several different "loss" estimates through these guns and I see someone has just brought up hose loss. Would one of you pros like to share with us the settings we should have at the gage on the gun for the various products and your recommendations for needle sizes and the pressure one would want at the beginning of the hose if your using a gun that doesn't have a gage and regulator at the gun. Lets assume a 50 foot hose for the latter question.

as always thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.

Different guns require different pressures and volume. You'll need someone who is familiar with your actual model gun and also will need to know what materials will be sprayed. Most HVLP guns respond very well to the large high flow air fittings. I always run full 150 psi line pressure and dial my gun pressure at the gun, a good regulator will keep the pressure consistant- not a cheap valve type generic style. If you experiment with the pattern and pressure and if you compressor delivers enough volume you can find your sweet spot through testing. If you buy a new gun get an Iwata LPH-400 you won't be disapointed- no need for high flow fittings with this one. Bob

between 16 and 18 at the gun, ends up being 10-11 at the cap
