The 2" cowl hood is finally here and ready to be cut. smile.gif Since I've never toyed with cutting fiberglass before, I'm looking for suggestions on how to properly cut this thing. Can anyone share some good tips on what to use? Thanks in advance.

This is a bolt-on style hood from US Body Source.

Wes, ive cut a lot of fiberglass (job related) bimetal blades for a jig saw seem to work the best for me. tape the hood up before cutting so saw dosent scratch hood. draw the pattern out on the tape. drill hole inside the scribe line large enough for the blade to pass through and work your way to the line. use a fine blade, and dont let the saw bounce. if you want a radius in the corners cut up to the radius and use a fine stone in a drill. Hope this helps.

This is how I did mine. Tape out the hood and draw your lines on the tape. Now go to the corners and use a 1 inch hole saw to make the corner radius, now just connect the "dots "

When I cut the top off my boat I used abrasive wheels in a circular saw. They lasted a long time and didn't shake so bad.

Another suggestion is, again tape and draw like the others said, but I used an air saw, best thing I've ever used to cut, but now with the RotoZip out, you might want to try one of those, get it close then use a file to make the lines straight. And remember ALWAYS CUT SMALL you can remove as you go, you can never grow it back. I think I had the hood on and off about 200 times when I did mine, wanted to take no chance that it would be too big.

good luck.
