Hi folks.. this is kinda off-topic, but I couldn't think of a place to ask, and I can't find a good guide with real-life experience.
I should be getting my motor back soon, and should have that installed by about may 5th.
I've gone to super chevy in Epping, NH at the end of every may that I've had the car running.

Here is the problem.. I don't know how to make the car shine like everyone else.
The paint job was pretty good and recent. I have a small paint bubble and paint chip I can't fix, but aside from a few swirls its a good job.
What should I use to clean, prep, and wax the paint itself for a top-notch look?
My second problem is the engine bay. How can I minimize the pitting look on my aluminum, alternator, waterpump, etc? And what can I use to clean the black painted surfaces (rad support, inner fenders, firewall) to keep them looking good?
And last but not least-- the undercarriage. There's dirt, gook, grime, grease, tranny fluid film all over the place, the tie rods and stuff look pretty disgusting for a 7 year old frame-off resto.
Also-- aluminum wheels and chrome?
The real issue is I do drive the car.. so some undercarriage paint is starting to chip, but thats just reality.
I'm looking for tips, products, an online guide, a reccomended book, etc..

And I really don't want to resort to this, but if I got a good word of mouth line on an auto detailer, what do you all think of this?

Dang Matt, that's alot of detailing questions. I'll be frank in my xp.

ALL Chrome and aluminum: Mothers Chrome and aluminum polish. Hope you have your elbow greased.

Paint: If you have a few swirls, try an orbital buffer and some finishing compound like 3M Crystal Finish or some non-abrasive compound. Follow up with some good teflon wax. If the swirls remain, and your paint's thick, you'll need a wool pad and a variable speed buffer with some grit compound. We used 3M #3 back in my detailing years. Then the orbital. And finally... if you still see fine swirls, your elbow--along with swirl remover wax (oily and wont last a long time but good in a pinch.)

Pits: You're screwed, sorry. Try toothpaste and a toothbrush and a bit of water. They wont go anywhere unless you replace it, but you can draw attention from them. By keeping everything else clean.

Black painted surfaces: I'd use Pledge on a rag. But just the electronics cleaner. Just to dust off. None of the waxy stuff

For the grease: WD-40 and a rag w/ a light touch. That's about it. Fix the leaks! (PITA :( )!! Grease is rough, and will melt your undercarriage coat eventually.

Chips: Touch up paint and a steady hand. PAINT BEFORE WAX OR BUFF!!

Good luck!!
