: Is this a workable Dupont combo?

Decided to start over with a clean sheet of paper on my quarter panels and roof. I've ground and sandblasted the panels already.

I want to apply 5717S conditioner and 5718S Conversion coating. Then I'm going to apply 824S/826 Corlar epoxy primer. I'll do my filling and sanding, then I'll apply URO-Primer-filler (1140S, 1125S, 1135S). Once I get it blocked down real good, I'll sand with 400grit and apply my 3 coats of Dupont Centari Acrylic Enamel.

Will this work ok? :D

Do your filler first, then apply 615S/616S Etch, then 1140 Uro, then top coat.

If you use the above sequence and products, you will not only get a better job/result, you'll save time, effort and money. The etch prime accomplishes the same thing as the metal conditioner and the epoxy primer is not needed at all for your application.

It's good that you want to spend the bucks for UroPrime, but then why in the world would you want to "cheapskate" the job with Centari Acrylic Enamel? If you MUST use a single stage, at least spend a few dollars more for one of Dupont's urethane single stages.

I already bought the Dupont Centari - 4 years ago. I'd like to use it, plus I've had good luck using it.

Mike,

I've used alot of Centari over the years and can tell you it will hold up well over the long haul (and it buffs out well too!) You can always use Dupont's Performance Pak with your Centari....it's just a Urethane additive that will give similar results to using straight Urethane. Just a note of caution...if your not aware of it already, be really careful when using any of the 2 part mixes and Urethanes in general....they are super toxic!!!

BBElky,

I hear you on the toxicity. I always use the proper protective equipment.

Like you, I've had good luck with the Centari, and since this is my last project I don't care to get a new gun and learn how to spray new topcoats. The Centari is going to look better and be a tougher finish than my '67 had when it was new anyway.

Just wanted to make sure that all the products that I listed were compatible.
