I can't seem to get the lower alternator bracket installed (it was off before I got the car). The two bolt holes are wider than the #1 cyl. exh. studs. I assume it fits on these studs. I have headers, not stock manifolds. Where does it go?????

Can someone point me to a picture of the stock lower alt. bracket for 67 Small blocks. Maybe I have a wrong bracket? I tried searching for a picture of one..but come up empty. What is the mouting hole spacing??

THANKS

SBC right? The stock bracket does not fit on the exhaust studs. There is a second set of mounting on a factory cast manifold that the bracket mounts to. With headers, you need an additional bracket. Mr. Gasket and others make them. It is this after market bracket that mounts to the exhaust header bolts and then provides a set of holes to mount the alternator bracket to. Note: with P/S, this will change the location of the upper P/S mount.

Ahhhh. OK. so I need the little extra bracket... got a part number?
The car has PS. so are you saying that the PS bracket will move to?
The 67 has the alt. just above the PS pump.

I just looked on up, Mr. Gasket part number 9852. The offer a matching chrome lower alternator bracket, but I run my stock one. The P/S pump was discussed recently at http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1030696#post1030696. There is a link there to my website with some pictures of mine is set up.
