O K ! I went to install the oil filter.... the 'whatcha-ma-callitt' was not screwed into the bottom of the block! The 'oil filter' screw-on stuff!

MY QUESTION... Is that lil' valve in that piece of hardware a "SCREEN" or just some little 'pressure valve'???

Not the best discription I have seen :D

If you are talking about the little aluminum piece held in by two bolts that the oil filter screws onto it is the oil filter adapter,, better known as a thing-a-ma-jig or more technically a do-dad held on by two little screw thingy's,,, :p
Yes, it has an oil filter bypass valve in it.

Ahhhh Mike.... we could have had some fun telling him it was a one off custom adaptor
please send photo's ........ :D
its a presure bypass valve not a screen
when people don't chance their filter its the way around the plugged filter !!

Does do-dad/'Valve' = a type of "SCREEN"??? Whatever... The reason I ask is b/c the motor this part came off of was full of water/rust... Is the "do-dad" a Screen/or Not; GET IT???

Believe it or not... WOLF!!! Even with all the smart remarks! Your advice REALLY DOES help me out! I've said it b/f and I'll say it again...

I do good to take chit apart and put it back together! I ain't got NO 10.oo second ride, etc., etc...

I'm just a "backwoods hotrodder"!!! SORRY, FOR NOT BEING AS EDUCATED AS MOST on this board!!! :(

As my name implies... I'm still learning... I'm looking for advice and help!

As I stated b/f... I knew it would be a stupid topic for guy's like yourselve's. However, to me it is something I feel the need to ask about. I am someone that does good to get "MY" 'Rod' rolling & running halfway decent...
I've already lost one motor within 500 miles.... I would like this one to last a while!!! I'm SURE y'all guys can appreciate that!

Again, THANX FOR THE INFO...

Hey Steal Learn'n! Remember, the only stupid or dumb question is one not asked! Everyone on here has asked a "dumb question" in their lifetime! I know I sure have, but better asked than not and having something go wrong!

The answer was meant to help you & the rest was kidding
Hence the smiley face,,,

You asked if it was a screen or bypass, I answered you.
IF YOU MISSED IT HERE IT IS AGAIN
Yes, it has an oil filter bypass valve in it.

I did not consider the question as "stupid",,, those were your words.

Don't really care about your state of learnin,,, hell, I am the last one to question anyone's state of
learnin,, :D

As I have said many times here, I been doing this crap for a long time & I still be learnin & questions are how we all learn,,, notice I said WE,,

If I offended you with my kidding,, what can I say??

In the future I will be careful not to joke with you,,

And if I remember right, you gotta have it under/between the block and a spin-on filter adapter IF you ever want to use spin-on filters.

Right guy's??
