Just got my 67 396 in May...and just found out that the trunk seal is shot at the top of the trunk...hence water leaks! I assume the weatherstrip should have a "wraparound" type. Where can I get replacement weatherstrip? They have some rolled stuff at the parts store but prefer to get the original stripping. In the meantime...what sealant would work best that won't stick to paint when I go to replace the old stuff?

i went with danno enterprises for all my weatherstrip. Most of there stuff is made by metro, PUI, and soff seal. I believe the trunk seal was metro. I cant remember because i bought every piece for my car all at once. The people there are good to deal with too.If your not happy theyll exchange it.

There is black 3m weatherstrip adhesive you get from the local parts store. It will however stick to the paint but if its just a quick ooops then it will come off. I wouldnt use it to try and repair the old one because it will make more mess to try and scrap clean when you put the new stuff. Just wait till you get the new rubber then use the 3m weatherstrip adhesive.

Someone told me if you don't glue it in, you can take it out for cleaning but they were talking about a 70

I also bought mine from danno enterprises, real nice people and good prices. Get Metro brand and definatly glue it in place. Who cares about cleaning the bottom of the weatherstripping if its clean when it goes it it will be fine. Just go slow and start @ the bottom. Took about 25minutes to do my trunk and it has stayed VERY well.
