My 67 has a 350, not original of course...attached to a 3 spd. saginaw. GM offers an 85 and earlier crate motor, but I can't afford that right now. Most donor cars I have found have 305s (camaros and such). will there bolt up my saginaw with the existing bellhousing and clutch?? Input shafts OK???
What year donor cars are a direct bolt in swap??
Thanks....
BTW....anyone have a healthy 283/327/350 for sale cheep in NJ area?? thanks

The early model sbc had a two piece main seal. The later year cars had one piece main seal. I'm not sure what year the one piece seal was introduced. I know the flywheels are not interchangeable between the one and two piece blocks. I'm not sure about the bell. The transmission should be interchangeable.
Unless your 350 is a real dog, it probably does not make sense to swap it out for a 305. Look in the classified section of this site. There is a 283 long block with matching trans listed, although I don't know where the seller is located. 350's are listed there frequently. 327's are much harder to come by and are usually more expensive than the 350's.
The cheapest GM 350 crate motor is about $1400. Is that the one you are looking at? The GMPP crates are all much more expensive than that.

One peice seal was introduced in '86, so if you stick with any '85 and older small block it should go right in with no problem.
