Hi :)
All problems with my quadrajet was solved today...
The reason for overfilling was simple and stupid - brand new fuel filter (made in Russia, heh) was filled with metal and plastic particles... All of you knows - what will happen if that particles will get into the needle&seat assy... :(
So i've replaced the filter with FRAHM unit, added fuel return line, set float level to 3/8", tuned the ignition...
Car was running good enough, but... Still lack of perfomance was noticable...
The next solution was more simple - the choke was NOT releasing secondaries :)
Removed the pin and here we go - TONS of torque and acceleration, beautyful sound, rear drum brakes can't hold the wheels from burnout - even on such a heavy vehicle with such a stiff rear axle (the car is chevy caprice (sorry guys), SBC-350 with flattops, stock TBI truck heads, 268H cam,800cfm quadrajet;th-350;2.73 rear) :D

Still - quadrajet is the BEST carb ever made ;)

Those Q-jets can really make you manic-depressive, can't they? :D Thanks for the info, I have been struggling with a Q-jet lately so I might have a second look at the things you mentioned.

I grew up in Rochester NY, and my mom ended up working at Rochester Products. If you speak to the engineers that designed the QJ, they'll, to the man, tell you that it was the most "elegant" and effective metering mechanism designed. I would tend to agree, and hope to have one of those retired engineers build me a nice 800 cfm one for a large big block.

So yeah, I agree!
